Orange EV, a leading U.S. manufacturer of electric terminal trucks, 聽announced record order volume for electric terminal trucks, including an order for 600 trucks, marking the largest single order in Orange EV鈥檚 history. The scale of these investments signals a fundamental shift in yard operations, as electric terminal trucks become a new standard across logistics networks.
聽Orange EV created the electric terminal truck market more than a decade ago. Today, more than 1,900 Orange EV trucks are in service, including聽its first deployment聽with聽DHL聽from聽2015.聽The market grew gradually as聽site聽operators purchased electric 鈥測ard dogs鈥澛爐o聽test the new fuel format in real-world conditions.聽Market indicators suggest a clear shift聽has occurred, as large organizations with sophisticated supply chains聽move to scale their fleet following successful trails with聽Orange聽EV聽yard聽hostlers,聽chargers,聽and BESS systems.
聽鈥淲e have left the early adopter聽stage of yard electrification,鈥 Kurt Neutgens, Co-Founder, President, and CTO of Orange EV,聽said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e seeing companies invest in聽hundreds of trucks聽because聽total cost of ownership superiority聽has been proven, including聽uptime, reliability,聽fuel savings,聽and聽service聽guarantees.鈥
聽Deployment is already underway聽for the聽600-truck聽record-breaking order, with full deployment expected in 2026. These聽orders聽are backed by industry-leading uptime guarantees聽and聽extended warranties,聽supported by聽Orange EV鈥檚 end-to-end service model, further reinforcing the company鈥檚 leadership聽position聽in electric terminal trucks. Orange EV聽is now聽on track to capture more than 25% of all new terminal truck聽orders聽and deliveries聽by year end.
聽Adoption at this scale聽is part of聽a聽broader effort to modernize supply chain operations by reducing costs聽and increasing efficiencies.聽Orange EV聽reports聽that聽multiple聽early聽adopters聽that聽began with limited tests have subsequently聽placed聽incremental聽orders聽to grow聽their聽yard聽fleets聽to more than聽100聽Orange聽EV聽trucks. At the same time,聽the company聽has seen a聽272%聽spike in leasing deals聽over聽the聽last 12 months.聽This trend reflects how leasing can accelerate EV standardization without the need for large upfront capital investments.
聽Orange EV yard trucks have accumulated聽33.8聽million聽of operational miles, with many already surpassing聽30,000 hours聽of usage with their first聽owners,聽all聽on their original battery聽packs and聽exceeding the typical lifespan of diesel yard trucks.聽Deployments span聽distribution centers, ports,聽manufacturing plants,聽agricultural facilities, and many other types of sites. In聽all聽these environments, electrification has聽demonstrated聽significant improvements聽in uptime, maintenance聽schedules, and energy costs聽as聽compared to diesel alternatives.聽Part of the聽accelerated聽adoption聽comes聽from聽a new enhanced CCS1聽option聽(e-CCS1™)聽now available on聽all聽Orange聽EV trucks,聽enabling聽full compatibility聽with CCS1 charging standards,聽for聽seamless integration with a broad range of existing and third-party charging infrastructure.
聽鈥淥ur largest customers聽are now聽standardizing around聽the聽Orange EV solution,鈥 Neutgens said. 鈥淥ver the course of聽10 years,聽our聽tractors聽can聽save聽half聽a聽million dollars聽in聽Total Cost of Ownership聽over a diesel聽without聽factoring in聽any聽available聽incentives.鈥
聽To support the growing demand, Orange EV expanded聽its production and service capabilities. The company鈥檚 Kansas City manufacturing facility is designed to produce 2,400 trucks per year in a single shift, giving the聽EV manufacturer聽ample capacity聽to聽produce聽more than 1,000 terminal trucks聽beyond current orders.聽聽Capacity聽can聽expand聽further聽with聽the addition of聽a second or third shift.
聽Orange EV delivers a factory-backed, direct service model supported by a nationwide team of Orange EV鈥搕rained technicians, providing rapid on-site response and same-day support for most maintenance needs. 鈥淯ptime drives everything in yard operations, so our service approach is built to keep trucks working, not waiting for service,鈥 Neutgens said. 鈥淲e聽have聽expanded聽our best-in-class service in 2026 to include multi-shift and weekend support to make sure our customers stay up and running in mission-critical environments.鈥
聽While聽Orange EV聽electric trucks deliver clear operational and economic advantages, some sites face infrastructure constraints, as aging electrical grids are not always equipped to support increased demand. To address this, Orange EV developed the Orange Juicer™, a battery-integrated DC fast charger that reduces or聽eliminates聽the need for costly permitting and time-consuming infrastructure upgrades. The system compresses deployment timelines from聽months or years聽to聽days.
聽鈥淭he Orange Juicer聽trickle charges its internal battery聽reservoir聽from the聽grid,聽with the capability to聽dispense聽high capacity聽200kW聽fast charging on demand,鈥澛燦eutgens said.聽鈥淚t聽removes聽the聽final barriers聽to electrification聽by聽using existing infrastructure, while also聽helping聽yard operators聽avoid聽peak usage fees.鈥
聽This record order volume highlights the accelerating adoption of electric yard trucks as companies聽seek聽to modernize operations, improve reliability, and reduce total cost of ownership.聽With proven performance and聽turnkey聽solutions聽deployed聽at fleet聽scale, Orange EV is extending its leadership in yard electrification.
聽聽鈥淭he question for many operators is no longer聽can聽Orange EV聽electric yard trucks聽do the job,鈥 Neutgens聽said. 鈥淣ow,聽the question is how quickly聽sites聽can聽deploy聽them.鈥
